Aktionstag: Zusammenhalt in Vielfalt

The Fonds supports the German Cultural Council’s Cultural Integration Initiative and the day of action on May 21. Holger Bergmann: “Cultural diversity is not just a ‘nice-to-have,’ but a prerequisite for democracy and social cohesion.”

To celebrate May 21, 2026—World Day for Cultural Diversity—campaigns will be launched across Germany for the first time to highlight diversity and demonstrate social commitment to cohesion.

We support the Cultural Integration Initiative, which was launched by the German Cultural Council and advocates for greater cohesion, participation, and justice in our democratic society through 15 theses.

Holger Bergmann, Executive Director of the Fonds Darstellende Künste, comments:

“Cultural diversity is not a ‘nice-to-have,’ but a prerequisite for democracy and social cohesion. That is why we will not leave this issue to those who seek to divide our society and narrow the concept of belonging to origins, passports, or even racist labels. Freedom in diversity applies to the many different people in this country—and everywhere.”
