#TakeCare
Made possible by NEUSTART KULTUR – the rescue and future package for the cultural and media sector financed by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media (BKM) – the Fonds Darstellende Künste updated the successful #TakeCare initiative to support freelance artists affected by nationwide shutdowns and continued it in a broadly effective form.
The grant-like funding was aimed at independent performing artists and its goal was to support further artistic development under the impact of the pandemic. The fund supported the diverse work of freelance artists in the independently producing German theater and dance landscape and thus contributed to securing paid and continuous artistic work in the independent performing arts nationwide by important individual artists and collectives – despite the pandemic conditions.
What was funded?
For the projects funded in #TakeCare, the focus was on the artistic idea as well as open-ended and production-independent activities. The emphasis was placed on projects that explored content, such as research to generate content and future concept development, as well as all activities aimed at stabilizing artistic activities.
Who could apply?
Eligible to apply were artists who have demonstrably worked in significant artistic positions in publicly-funded projects of the independent performing arts over the last three years or, alternatively, who could provide evidence of their transnational or international guest performance or production activities in their self-directed artistic work.
Groups of artists who have been working collectively for many years could submit their applications for up to five applicants for the same project.
How much could be applied for?
The grant-like funding of up to €5,000 was awarded to individual artists in several application rounds.
Groups of artists who have been working collectively for many years were able to submit combined applications for up to five applicants for the same project. The maximum application volume was thus increased by up to a further €5,000 per person.
