Wolfgang Ullrich is a cultural studies scholar and freelance writer based in Leipzig. From 2006 to 2015, he was a professor of art history and media theory at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design. He publishes on the history and critique of the concept of art, as well as on topics related to the sociology and politics of images. Since 2019, he has been co-editor of the book series “Digitale Bildkulturen” (Digital Visual Cultures) published by Klaus Wagenbach. - Most recent book: Memocracy: Social Media and Authoritarian Visual Politics (2026).
