Theater der Entspannten

democratic bootcamp / EUCREA e.V.

We want to reach audiences outside of our bubble and see more diversity on and in front of the stage!

In 2022 and 2023, nine independent performance groups with and without an inclusion background got together in the democratic bootcamp to collectively develop a production. Working in tandem, they each created a contribution for a game show that was both tongue-in-cheek and scenically diverse and addressed the advantages and disadvantages of group-dynamic work processes. The project also involved reflecting on their own approaches to work – in particular questions and dilemmas regarding the power-critical design of work and decision-making processes in heterogeneous groups.

Within the framework of the artist lab, six of the participating performance groups reflected on what they had experienced and, based on this, gathered insights for the planning and implementation of similar projects. In addition, the question of the audience was brought into focus: Which audience is still missing? How can reflection processes and discourse events be made accessible and open to a heterogeneous audience? The starting point was always the situation as a mixed group, and appropriate strategies were developed. In the artist lab, a network of the participating groups was founded, and concrete agreements on implementation and content were made.
