Wheelchair accessibility & visit with a walker

The Kampnagel site is all at ground level. The venue spaces k1, k2, k3, k4, k6, p1 and kmh as well as the Foyer, box office and the restaurant Peacetanbul are wheelchair accessible. Unfortunately, the rehearsal stages and the kX are only accessible via stairs.

Wheelchair spots are made available according to need. Please inform us beforehand via the online registration form.

Parking: There are two parking spots for visitors with sensory or physical limitations who have the respective parking sticker behind the halls in front of the administration building (Jarrestraße 20). Kampnagel can be reached from there on even ground (approx. 100 meters). The entrance is from the Jarrestraße; then stay to your left.

Walker: for events at K6, you can just place your walker next to the bleachers or keep it at your place in the first row. For all other spaces, our team is gladly available to assist you.

Wheelchair accessible toilets are between the halls p1 and kmh.

Access for blind and visually impaired participants

Unfortunately, there is no guidance system between public transportation and Kampnagel.

There are both stairs and a ramp that lead to the entrance. The stairs are well lighted without being glaring; the stairs are marked white on grey flooring. There are no handrails. There are no rotating doors. Glass doors are always clearly marked (this does not apply to the entrance of the restaurant Peacetanbul). Doors and doorframes contrast highly with the surroundings; the toilet doors are an exception. In the Foyer, there are various temporary bleacher elements and structures that create an exhibition; as a rule, they are in the middle of the space or at the edges. In the Foyer and the halls, the wall cannot be used as a guidance system. Please communicate your individual needs in the online registration form ahead of time. We will get in touch with you immediately in order to find a solution together.

Access for the deaf and hearing-impaired participants

The halls k6 and k2 are equipped with an induction loop. They are available in k6 from rows 1 to 15 and in k2 at all seats. In addition, two induction loops are permanently installed at the box office and info point.

We offer simultaneous DGS translation for many formats - on site and in the live stream. Corresponding program items are indicated in the program overview with the note DGS. If you register by October 01, 2023, we may be able to provide simultaneous DGS translation for additional formats. Please indicate your requirements in the online registration form.

Mask friendly

Given the new corona variants and also other virus infections, we once again request that you adhere to basic hygienic principles and take special care of one another.

To respect the needs of particularly endangered participants at the event, for individual program points wearing an FFP2 mask is obligatory. Please note the reference in the program overview. Further events are marked as “mask friendly”; this means that, in case of need, wearing a mask can be made obligatory for everyone. With an advance notice from persons with this accessibility need, we seek to make it possible that wearing a mask will be obligatory, also in smaller groups. Please note your personal needs in the online registration form. Our team will make every effort to realize this. All formats that can be seen in the live stream can be watched by all participants with an increased infection risk in marked, protected spaces (glass pavilion of the Peacetanbul in the entrance area as well as K31), in which wearing masks in required.

B.A.L.L. Relaxed

Numerous program offerings reflect an atmosphere that is as low in stimuli as possible – this is marked as “relaxed” in the overview. Bean bags are also available, if needed, in the rooms for these program points. We would also like to offer the possibility of leaving the workshop room at any time, and we will make every effort to make sensory triggers transparent in advance.

All additional questions regarding accessibility can be answered by Luca Sonnen,

Retreat space

On the two days of the event, the k33 will become a low-stimulus retreat for anyone who feels the need to temporarily escape the intense conference action.

It offers daylight, comfortable seats and water. The offer is directed towards people with the need to retreat in the sense of accessibility; for conversations, telephone calls or to work, please use the media lounge and charging station.

Media lounge and charging station

The kmh is to become a temporary lounge and charging station – for all the guests (and their devices) who need to recharge their batteries. In a cozy atmosphere, you can sit down and relax, engage in whispered conversation; at various stations, visitors can watch or listen to films and audio plays from the labs.

Awareness

Awareness Team at the Labs' Nationwide Artist Lab

Discriminatory or transgressive behavior is not compatible with the principles of the Fonds Darstellende Künste. During B.A.L.L.s 2023, the Awareness Team is available to anyone affected by discriminatory behavior. It will also support you if you feel overwhelmed or triggered by a situation.
You will recognize the members of the team by their yellow vests. Room k3 on the left is available as a protected space for discussions during the event.

Awareness Definition

Awareness describes that all together create a considerate coexistence in which each person can feel comfortable and safe. This means: organizers, crew, artists and audience.
Translated with "awareness", it is about looking and taking responsibility at events when overstraining, violence or discrimination happens.
Awareness means, on the one hand, to prevent these situations in advance. On the other hand, it also means supporting the person concerned according to his or her needs, so that he or she can feel comfortable and safe again at the event.
The Awareness Team supports you: confidentially, impartially and needs-oriented.
The Awareness Team is available on Friday 13:30 - 21:00 (17.15-18.15 PAUSE) and Saturday 10:30 - 20:00 (15.15-16.15 PAUSE).

The awareness concept was developed with the support of Act Aware e.V. : https://act-aware.net/

To visit the “wastewater treatment plant” by raumlaborberlin, we request that you bring swimwear.
