QAA – Queer Affirmation Alliance

vT corp.

Do we need a queer audience for queer performance or can we support and be more resilient in a different way?

Experiences of discrimination and trauma are realities for queer people and constant companions in a heteronormative society. As queer theater makers, they bring their bodies, experiences, and issues to the stage: How does the discourse around safer spaces, translate to theater audiences when it comes to queer performers and their issues? What solutions have been found here in the past, and how have they been put to the test once again by the new introduction of online audiences?

In order to be able to confidently and sustainably bring their themes to the stage, a safe atmosphere in the theater hall is essential for them; especially because they don't just make theater for the so-called queer community, but want to reach as many people as possible with their work.

Together with queer theater professionals, they want to shed light on these issues, exchange experiences and explore the possibilities of building a network through which they can support each other.

What can such an alliance of queer theater professionals look like? How can they support each other to become more resilient in the face of a still discriminating society? Through a "Queer Affirmation Alliance"?
