On June 5, 2021, the Fonds was a guest at the festival "Claiming Common Spaces III" with the online event "TRANSFORMATIONEN - Gespräche und Positionen aus den Freien Darstellenden Künsten" (TRANSFORMATION - Discussions and opinions from within the independent performing arts). The aim was to question, in discussion with those involved in the independent performing arts, the potential for change and modifications to the conditions of independent production.

#TakeThat | Funding of 56 million euros already approved

It has already been a year since the first stages had to close due to the corona pandemic, and the measures to contain the pandemic are still having a huge impact on culture. The Fonds is continuing to work on expanding its support to stabilize independent arts production. To this end, the #TakePart program is being relaunched in a new form.

Research project on funding in the independent performing arts

As part of its #TakeThat funding program, the Fonds is initiating a comprehensive research program. In 12 thematic sub-studies, experts examine the systematics of the German funding framework. In November, they will present their recommendations for a sustainable funding policy.

Holger Bergmann, managing director of the Fonds, gives an insight into the current situation in a video statement and argues for an extension of the project period for NEUSTART KULTUR and, with it, for more planning certainty for artists.

Funding package #TakeThat launched

In connection with NEUSTART KULTUR — the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media (BKM)’s program for the future — the Fonds Darstellende Künste is launching its comprehensive #TakeThat package of measures to support independent artists. To this end, 65 million euros in additional funding from the economic stimulus package for the cultural and media sector have been made available.
