Am 13. November 2024 hat ein breites Bündnis aus der Berliner Kulturlandschaft zum öffentlichen Protest gegen die geplanten Kürzungen im Berliner Kulturhaushalt aufgerufen. Gegen die Kürzungen sprach sich auch Heinrich Horwitz als Initiator*in der Petition „An den Freien Künsten zu sparen, kostet zu viel“ in einer Rede aus – hier zum Nachlesen:

On May 24, the Fonds Darstellende Künste is launching a series of programs that invite people to attend performances, workshops and discussions at nine locations in and around theaters in eight German cities. The Bundesweiten Foren will focus on major concepts such as democracy and freedom, contradictory perspectives, encounters and art. In an interview with Elisabeth Wellershaus, Holger Bergmann, Managing Director of the Fonds, talks about the background to THE ART OF STAYING MANY.

The series "THE ART OF STAYING MANY" starts with the kick-off event on May 24 and 25, 2024 in Berlin and then travels on to eight different theaters, festivals and production venues. On June 5, 2021, the Fonds was a guest at the festival "Claiming Common Spaces III" with the online event "TRANSFORMATIONEN - Gespräche und Positionen aus den Freien Darstellenden Künsten" (TRANSFORMATION - Discussions and opinions from within the independent performing arts). The aim was to question, in discussion with those involved in the independent performing arts, the potential for change and modifications to the conditions of independent production.

It has already been a year since the first stages had to close due to the corona pandemic, and the measures to contain the pandemic are still having a huge impact on culture. The Fonds is continuing to work on expanding its support to stabilize independent arts production. To this end, the #TakePart program is being relaunched in a new form.
