Perspektive 2025!

The Fonds will receive further funding from the budget of the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media for the funding year 2025. A total of 7.6 million euros will be available to support the independent performing arts - a strong signal in challenging times. This means that the cut is less than initially announced. Managing Director Holger Bergmann explains the background, consequences and associated prospects for the Fonds in a video statement.

New narratives for a world of the many

At the Ratschlag der Vielen (Council of the Many) on November 28, 2024 at the Akademie der Künste on Pariser Platz in Berlin, many questions were raised, but some momentum was also created. The general consensus: society needs new narratives of diversity, but art must not be appropriated for this without any restrictions. After all, doesn’t its power to unleash new worlds lie precisely in its freedom? In these times, that would perhaps be the most political statement in the negotiation of democratic public spheres.

DIE KUNST, VIELE ZU BLEIBEN 2024

From May to September 2024, the series of nationwide forums “DIE KUNST, VIELE ZU BLEIBEN” brought people together at nine different locations in Germany through performances, workshops, discussions, singing performances and much more in order to pose the question of “how” a pluralistic and democratic society can be achieved.

The Fonds Darstellende Künste not only supports projects, but is also a service and consulting partner for independent artists, collectives and institutions. The office advises interested parties and artists on aspects of the application process as well as on structural and organizational issues beyond the scope of its own funding programs.
